According to him, before implementing energy efficiency measures, communities need to focus on energy saving – reducing electricity consumption. This will reduce the cost of maintaining autonomous power systems that provide communities with electricity during power outages.
Energy autonomy is a basic need when a community has access to energy under any conditions. And energy efficiency improvements should begin after the economical use of available resources is ensured. And, although it may sound strange, energy efficiency often requires an increase in energy consumption to achieve optimal results
To implement energy autonomy projects, it is important for communities to clearly identify their needs, develop project documentation, and attract funding. Today, there are a number of state and international support programs in Ukraine that offer grants, loans, or technical assistance, Ryabtsev reminds.
“There are many programs, ranging from government loans at 5-9% per annum to support from international organizations such as USAID or various German funds.
European taxpayers are ready to help Ukrainian communities ensure their own energy autonomy,” he emphasized.
The expert added that active and capable communities are already demonstrating effective solutions in this area, which can serve as an example for others. This not only guarantees energy security, but also lays the foundation for further sustainable development and improvement of the quality of life of citizens.
