Commenting on Lithuania’s proposal for the construction of a joint power plant, the minister noted that it was difficult for her to give an assessment because there was no official request. “We don’t know if the Lithuanians have in mind their long-standing project of a joint nuclear power plant and our participation in it. We are waiting for the Lithuanian minister’s plan,” she added.Advertisement: Last week, Lithuanian Energy Minister Žigimantas Vaičiūnas announced his intention to offer Latvia and Estonia to build joint power plant. It will be recalled that in July the energy ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania confirmed their intention to synchronize with the continental European energy system ENTSO-E and disconnect from the Russian one in February 2025. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, together with Russia and Belarus, work in a common electricity supply system, which is centrally managed from Moscow.
