In Ukraine, as a result of the reduction in supply on the market, prices for cucumbers increased by 11%.

About this informs EastFruit.

“Ukrainian greenhouse plants offer cucumbers for sale at UAH 50-65/kg ($1.21-1.58/kg), which is 11% more expensive on average,” the report says.

Market participants explain the increase in prices by the limited supply of greenhouse cucumbers in conditions of increased demand.

In addition, harvests at the mills have decreased following worsening weather conditions, and prices are also supported by the lack of competition from imported products.

The price of greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine is now similar to the seasons in 2022 and 2023. According to forecasts of market operators, another increase in prices may lead to a sharp increase in the supply of imported products.

Analysts note that it will be more difficult for Ukrainian factories to compete with imported vegetables, since most of them already use heating.

It is predicted that average daily air temperatures in Ukraine will continue to decrease, which will affect the production cost of greenhouse vegetables.
