The index of expectations of business activity fell by 2.2 points in November to 47.2 after almost reaching a neutral level (49.4) a month earlier. This was reported by the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine. The intensification of hostilities, renewed power outages due to Russian attacks on the power system, further growth in energy, labor and logistics costs, accelerating inflation and a significant shortage of qualified personnel affected business expectations. Trade companies were the only ones to positively assess their business activity thanks to stable domestic demand and sufficient supply of goods: the sectoral index in November was 51.4 (in October – 51.9).Advertisement: Industrial companies lowered their estimates of economic prospects for November, taking into account the worsening security situation, power outages and rising production costs: the sectoral index in November was 46.7 (49.8 in October). against the background of rising costs for logistics, shortage of electricity and lack of qualified personnel: the sectoral index was 44.8 in November (47.2 in October).Construction firms provided the most pessimistic estimates of their current economic performance, given a seasonal slowdown in the pace of road and infrastructure construction and a shortage of skilled workers: the sectoral index was 43.6 in November, compared with 49.6 in October.Advertisement: Against the backdrop of a slowdown in the growth rate of purchase prices, enterprises of industry, construction and services expected lower growth rates of prices and tariffs for own products. Only trade respondents expected their slight increase. The situation on the labor market remains difficult, the NBU added.
