The G7 countries, as well as other partners, have raised more than $4 billion since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation to restore the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which Moscow is trying to destroy.

This was stated on Monday by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at a ministerial meeting in the “G7 plus” format in New York regarding support for Ukraine’s energy sector. transmits Ukrinform.

“Together, the G7 countries and other partners, over the past two years we have been working on mobilizing resources for Ukraine, for its people, to provide them with the energy they need, and for the country to be able to supply electricity to people,” the head of American diplomacy noted.

He emphasized that in the past two years alone, after the full-scale invasion of Russia, “G7 plus” countries mobilized more than $4 billion, and this process continues.

Yes, according to him, Germany, the Netherlands and other countries announced new contributions only in the last month. In June, US Vice President Kamala Harris announced an allocation of $500 million for energy needs, and last month the US allocated another $300 million, increasing America’s contribution to the sector to $1.8 billion.

“These funds are important, but what really matters is that they be used for practical needs and help our Ukrainian friends survive the coming (winter – ed) months,” Blinken emphasized.

He emphasized that Putin is trying to use energy and cold as a weapon in his efforts to conquer Ukraine.

“We know that the coming winter will be difficult, so our countries are working together every day to provide Ukraine with what it needs to survive the winter,” he added.

Therefore, according to Blinken, the participants of the ministerial meeting in New York will discuss the current situation and plans for the near term in order to restore the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which suffered from Russian strikes.

We will remind:

Since October 2022, the Russians have carried out more than a thousand strikes on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, which significantly affected the stability of the energy system.
