The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine found signs of a monopoly in “I-TRAVELS” LLC, which manages the BlaBlaCar online platform for shared car trips. This was reported by the press service of the regulator. On December 19, the AMCU issued recommendations to the management company regarding the termination of actions that contain signs of violation of the legislation on the protection of economic competition. The committee also investigated the issue of the procedure for establishing, paying and returning the service fee for using the services of this online platform. Advertising: “Currently, the company has not provided an adequate explanation of the service fee pricing mechanism,” AMCU noted. The regulator found that under the same conditions of cancellation of a passenger’s trip reservation (ie, not due to the driver’s fault), one passenger, at the sole discretion of the company, was refunded the service fee, while the other was not. At the same time, the company does not inform passengers at the time of receiving the service about all conditions for the return of such a fee.Advertisement: The Committee provided “I-TRAVELS” LLC with mandatory recommendations to stop the above-mentioned actions within two months. In case of non-fulfilment, the regulator will initiate proceedings in the case of violation of the legislation on the protection of economic competition. We will remind you that BlaBlaCar attracted 100 million euros of investment.
