The law enforcement officers reported the suspicion to the former chairman of the board of the commercial bank and the auditor of the private enterprise. They seized UAH 22 million from the bank during a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.

About this informs the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation and the press service National Police.

Law enforcement officers do not name the banker. At the same time, it is known that we are talking about the former Viktor Demidenko, Chairman of the Board of Sich Bank.

According to the reports, in July 2022, the merchant applied to the bank for a loan of UAH 20 million for allegedly purchasing fabric from foreign manufacturers.

The chairman of the board, in collusion with the businessman and other bank officials, and despite the lack of appropriate property security for the loan from the company, issued the loan.

Subsequently, these funds were transferred to the address of non-resident companies and processed abroad, and the fabric was never imported to Ukraine.

As noted in the DBR, this commercial bank was declared insolvent by the NBU in October 2022 due to its inability to fulfill its obligations under refinancing loans.

According to reports, the former chairman of the bank’s board and the head of the company are suspected of embezzling someone else’s property in particularly large amounts. They are threatened up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Bank “Sich” ceased its activities in 2022.

We will remind:

Prosecutor’s Office stopped the activities of a criminal organization that during 2021-2024 engaged in illegal mining and sale of hard coal.
