Military spending in EuropeAs reported by UNIAN, the defense ministers of the five European countries with the largest military expenditures stated that they want to continue increasing investments in defense. However, they consider it difficult to fulfill the task of increasing spending to 5% of GDP, which was set before them by the newly elected US President Donald Trump.
Thus, on Monday, January 13, a meeting of the defense ministers of Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy and Poland took place near Warsaw. This is the second meeting in the new format, which was approved after Trump’s election to the post of US president last year.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the German Defense Ministry, Boris Pistorius, emphasized that Europe supports a just peace for Ukraine. However, there are fears that Trump may push Kyiv to make unacceptable concessions to Russia, the agency emphasized.
