On Tuesday, July 15, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Statehood and the Day of Baptism of Kievan Rus. This day is about communication. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said about all stages of our state formation and what unites dozens of generations, said in the morning greetings.
– (This is the day) of those who lived on this earth a thousand years ago and those who live now. The bridge through the times that stands on three fixed supports. Ukrainians were here, Ukrainians are here, Ukrainians They will be here. And always wins life on this earth. They take values and our character – the best in our people. Which despite the war, tears and pain retained a person. They keep each other, which means they keep their state. And thousands of our fates, thousands of our stories, prove it, – Zelensky emphasized.
He stressed that despite the constant shelling and sleepless nights, Ukrainians remain to “remain Ukrainians in their country, on their land, in their country.”
– (remain) on their land. See how the sun goes down and despite everything to tell each other: “Good morning!” Ukrainians and Ukrainians last 1238 days. And we overcome every day together. Together … They say “this is the phenomenon of the Ukrainian people.” Yes, these are nice words. But today Ukrainians are not kept for the sake of it, not for the loud epithets in our address. We are just people who protect the house. Your home. And we cannot otherwise. Because we do not want to differently. We do not want Russia here. That’s all the truth, – the President added.
He summed up that all Ukraine passes daily is not everyday life. This is a great thing that you build each of us.
- The Day of Ukrainian Statehood is celebrated on July 15, since 2024. Before that, it was the holiday on July 28.
- The Day of Baptism of Kievan Rus as a memorial date of Ukraine was established by the third President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko. He issued a corresponding decree on this day on July 28 in the summer of 2008 as part of the celebration of the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Kievan Rus. Then Yushchenko chose such a date for the day of the memory of Prince Vladimir. In his decree was emphasized.
