Founder Ethereum Vitalik Butherin released his focus for 2025. The main directions are the development of Ethereum’s basic infrastructure and the support of decentralized ecosystems.

Within the L1-network (basic level), the sandpane plans to focus on a long-term road map. Among the key technical challenges, it identifies: the introduction of one -sided final, improvement of the virtual machine, work without preservation (Stateless Clients), as well as strengthening of safety, reliability and decentralization.
Another priority is the development of privacy, new communication tools and social technologies. In particular, it is about:
- improvement of encryption of messages and documents;
- development of markets for forecasts and similar tools;
- Mechanisms for financing public goods and open code products.
Butherin plans to pay special attention to physical infrastructure, equipment, operating systems, cryptography and protection against biological threats.
At the same time, he noted areas in which he intends to reduce personal participation:
- short -term magnification of Ethereum (including an increase in gas limit in 2026);
- research of blocks structure, P2P level;
- Current Ethereum Foundation;
- Mature directions in the ecosystem of applications (Defi, payment services, savings products).
Butherin stressed that these industries are no less important, but already have powerful specialists who actively develop the relevant areas.
Recall that in April, Ethereum Foundation announced that during the year it will focus on improving your custom experience and scale.
