Ukraine is working on preparing the exchange of bodies of fallen soldiers with Russia in the format “6000 by 6000”. This process is provided by agreements between the two countries. In addition, new prisoners of war will be carried out in the coming days. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
The minister reminded that today the first stage of the large -scale exchange of prisoners with Russia, in which young boys under 25 were returned home. According to Umerov, Istanbul arrangements provide for a gradual return of certain categories of prisoners of war, which are being implemented in the coming days.
– This is just the beginning. The process will continue in the coming days. Negotiations continue constantly. A very sensitive and painful work on large -scale repatriation of the bodies of fallen soldiers is also ongoing. It is a return to the shield of more than 6,000 Ukrainian defenders who have given their lives for the freedom of Ukraine. This process is also provided by arrangements, – said Umerov.
Meanwhile, the representatives of the Coordination Staff on the management of prisoners of war added that the number of Ukrainians returned this time was not announced for security reasons.
