“On the canvas, the artist recorded real participants of events – the military, representatives of the media, municipal and passenger, who were simultaneously on the escalator.

The artist revealed that they organized photography of people on the escalator to create the work. According to her design, the canvas reproduces a mirror display of the lift, which has become a key element of the composition.

“Along with the documentary aspect – the real scene and the performances that have taken place – this work is a symbol of modern society. I always emphasized: the escalator is endless, and we all continue the movement on it, ”Lesya Khomenko explained during the opening of the project.

The composition reflects the architectural features of the station (large -scale moving structures), while conveying the abstract idea of Ukrainian society as a single stream of people. These people are united by the protection of the country and the support of democratic principles on which the state is based. The Movement project will be part of the author’s solo exhibition at PinchukArtCentre, scheduled for August 28.
Earlier, the informant reported that the first building of the Central Railway Station in Kiev appeared 153 years ago. Social networks published archival images of construction of the station, erection of frames and individual elements. The modern appearance of “Kiev-Passenger” was formed until 1932 after a number of reconstructions.
