Ukraine’s Energy Consumption Restrictions Lifted for April 4

On April 4, Ukraine will not implement any electricity consumption restrictions, according to energy officials.

Forecasts indicate that there will be no measures to limit usage throughout the day, affecting all regions of the country.

However, citizens are urged to conserve energy, particularly during peak hours from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, when the demand on the energy system is highest.

The Ukrainian energy system is still recovering from extensive attacks. Following Russian strikes on March 24, energy providers had to introduce consumption limits for both industrial and residential users in many areas.

As of April 3, the situation has improved slightly, with restrictions only in effect during morning hours, allowing for more stable electricity supply throughout the rest of the day.

In preparation for the upcoming heating season, the government has initiated plans to enhance system resilience. Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal announced a competition for the construction of new generation facilities expected to add approximately 1.3 GW of capacity to the system.

Despite these initiatives, experts warn that Ukrainians should prepare for ongoing challenges. According to Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, under a realistic scenario, electricity supply restrictions could persist until 2031, although conditions typically improve in spring and summer.

Ukraine's energy authorities announced that no electricity consumption restrictions will be enforced on April 4, while urging citizens to conserve energy during peak hours. The energy system, still recovering from recent attacks, is undergoing preparations for future stability, but experts caution that challenges may continue for years.
