Ukraine was the first to start indefinite sanitary exchanges with Russia. As part of this initiative, the Russians were transferred to the wounded prisoners directly from the front line. About it reports the project “I want to live”.
– Ukraine was the first to implement the procedure according to the formula of “indefinite sanitary exchange”. We remind that Ukraine and Russia have agreed not only to return from captivity of all prisoners of war on both sides of serious injuries or illness, but also at the age of 25, but also Coordinating the order of simplified return of wounded prisoners of war, – said in the organization.
Therefore, today Ukraine has handed over wounded prisoners of war directly from the front. Ukraine has long emphasized that the issues of prisoners of war are exclusively humanitarian, and the Russian side first agreed with this during negotiations in Istanbul on June 2.

The nature of injuries and injuries obtained as a result of hostilities requires specialized, expensive and long -term treatment and rehabilitation, – I want to live. – The timeliness and completeness of medical care are critical factors for maintaining the lives and health of such people. The most effective such assistance can be provided outside the maintenance of prisoners of war. That is why this category of prisoners of war should immediately be transferred to the other side, not held in captivity for months or even years.
Ukraine has fulfilled its part of the obligations: wounded Russians, who were captured a few days ago, have already been transferred to the Russian side after their medical stabilization. Now Ukraine is waiting for a step in response to the Russian Federation.
