Ukraine Implements Hourly Power Outage Schedules Amid Ongoing Attacks

On Saturday, February 14, hourly power outage schedules will be enforced across all regions of Ukraine due to ongoing military strikes targeting the country’s energy infrastructure.

According to the national energy company, Ukrenergo, residential consumers will experience scheduled outages, while industrial users will face power restrictions. The company reiterated that these measures are a direct response to the recent combined assaults on energy facilities.

“The situation in the energy system may change. For specific timings and the extent of outages at your location, please check the official pages of your regional energy provider,” the statement read.

Ukrainians have been urged to conserve electricity whenever it becomes available according to the established schedules.

In a related development, the Russian military launched a new wave of combined attacks overnight, targeting several regions with a focus on energy facilities. In Kyiv, thousands of homes were left without electricity and heating.

Additionally, an energy facility in Odesa was struck, leading to disruptions in both electricity and water supply. Earlier, on February 10, Russian forces had targeted the energy infrastructure in Odesa, damaging critical facilities.

On February 7, a coordinated assault was carried out across Ukraine using strategic aviation, cruise missiles, and drones. Various regions were affected, with western areas being the primary targets.

Government reports indicate that substations and overhead power lines, crucial to the energy grid, were damaged, including the Burshtyn and Dobrotvir thermal power plants.

In Kyiv, DTEK reported that due to the electricity deficit, power was available for only 1.5 to 2 hours a day. However, by the morning of February 8, the situation improved, allowing the city to revert to temporary outage schedules.

President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that not all regions are resolving their electricity supply issues promptly and indicated that further assessments regarding the situation would be forthcoming.

Ukraine has announced hourly power outages across all regions due to ongoing military strikes on energy infrastructure. The government is urging citizens to conserve electricity as the situation remains critical.
