The Ukrainian government has announced significant updates to its energy support program aimed at small businesses, extending application deadlines and expanding the list of eligible activities.
Key changes include a two-month extension for submitting applications, now open until May 31, 2026, allowing more entrepreneurs to benefit from the program. The Ministry of Economy stated that this adjustment aims to attract a broader range of businesses needing investment for autonomous energy solutions.
Additionally, the program’s eligibility criteria have been broadened to include new sectors deemed socially and economically significant. This includes businesses involved in food production, water supply, specialized retail, and education.
As of March 12, the program has disbursed approximately 380 million UAH to 38,000 entrepreneurs, providing one-time financial assistance to enhance energy independence for small businesses.
The Ministry emphasized that these changes are designed to support businesses that supply essential goods and services amid frequent electricity outages. The financial aid can be utilized for purchasing equipment or covering electricity bills.
Entrepreneurs eligible for the program must be registered as individual entrepreneurs under simplified taxation systems, have at least one employee, and not have outstanding social insurance contributions. Applications can be submitted online through a dedicated platform or directly via the “Diia” portal.
The amount of assistance varies based on the number of employees, ranging from 7,500 to 15,000 UAH. The funds can be allocated towards generators, fuel, batteries, solar panels, electricity payments, and equipment installation and repair.
In total, the government has earmarked over 1.3 billion UAH for these initiatives within the 2026 budget of the State Employment Insurance Fund.
