Justin Trudeau announced his decision to leave the post of leader of the Liberal Party. He will remain Prime Minister of Canada until a new head of the ruling party is elected. 53-year-old Trudeau said this at his briefing.
– I intend to resign from the post of party leader, from the post of prime minister after the party chooses its next leader through a tough nationwide competitive process, – he said.
Earlier, Trudeau announced her possible resignation Canadian newspaper Globe and Mail. Trudeau’s decision came amid the fact that the Liberals are lagging behind the Conservatives in the polls ahead of the election, which should be held by the end of October.
