Day of the railway worker of Ukraine In Ukraine, November 4 is celebrated as a professional holiday – Railway worker’s day. The date for the celebration was chosen in honor of the arrival of the first train named “Yaroslav” to Lviv. It happened in 1861. The train was heading from Vienna via Przemyśl to Lviv. Therefore, in the modern sense, it was an international connection.
This day is considered the beginning of the history of railways in Ukraine. At the moment, there are six railway branches and they connect all regions of the state. The country’s railways also cooperate with seven neighboring states. Ukrzaliznytsia is the main railway transport management body in Ukraine. According to calculations, about 300,000 people work in the railway industry.
These are drivers, signalmen, energy engineers, conductors and dispatchers, those on duty at stations and many other specialists.
