Puerto Rico District Court found Juan Carlos Ryano guilty of disrespect to court after his refusal to voluntarily translate the removed bitcoins to the government controlled purse.
According to the case file, in June 2024, within the framework of the investigation, the FBI staff found a laptop with the Ledger “hardware wallet” installed on it.
On January 31, 2025, the court issued an arrest warrant 119.65 BTC (~ $ 12.6 million at that time). However, after that, the Reynoso moved the funds to five controlled addresses during the day.
Subsequently, the person tried to prove in court that the decision on confiscation violates the fifth amendment regarding the unjustified seizure of property by the government.
