The Ukrainian delegation during the second round of direct negotiations with Russia in Istanbul on June 2 will be headed again by the Minister of Defense of Rustem Umerov. On Sunday, June 1, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced.

Our delegation will be headed by Rustem Umerov on Monday,-he wrote in his telegram channel as a result of a meeting in the Presidential Office.

According to the Head of State, he identified the following positions before meeting with Russia in Istanbul on Monday, June 2.

– The first is the complete and unconditional ceasefire. The second is the release of prisoners. The third is the return of stolen children. And to establish a reliable and lasting peace and guarantee safety, to prepare a meeting at the highest level. Only leaders can solve key issues, ”he said.

At the meeting, the Ukrainian leader heard the reports of the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the General Staff, the intelligence and the Security Service of Ukraine.

  • On May 28, Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov said the second round of negotiations with Ukraine will be held in Istanbul on June 2.
  • After this statement, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov reported that Ukraine had submitted to Russia a document before the second round of negotiations and noted that Kiev was still waiting for a “memorandum” from Moscow.
