“We have also agreed that we would work in partnership on a project who had long wanted to launch, but there was no time and opportunity. These are hubs (food) in the African continent. The first partner was found is the UAE, ”the head of state said.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held negotiations with Abu Dhabi with President UAE Muhammad Bin Zaida Al Nagayan in an extended format and Tet-a-Tet. In particular, potential projects were discussed on the creation of food hubs in Egypt and the possibility of implementation of programs in agriculture in Ukraine.
Zelensky in an appeal to the peoples of Africa stated that Ukraine was ready to build food hubs in Africa.
Earlier, he noted that hubs of millions of tons of grain in Africa and other sensitive regions would aim to improve access to Ukrainian grain, as well as to strengthen global food security.
Ukraine and UAE signed a free trade agreement
Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a comprehensive economic partnership agreement. This is the first in the history of Ukraine, a free trade agreement with the Gulf countries, the press service of the Ministry of Economy reports.
The agreement provides for free trade between Ukraine and the UAE and liberalization of access to the markets of goods for both countries. Ukrainian goods will have full access to the UAE market for 96.6% of product lines.
“This is a historical event, because it is the first agreement in the most economically advanced region of the Middle East. It covers not only the UAE but also the Gulf regions in general, ”the Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko commented.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the Agreement can contribute to the preservation of a positive trade balance, which in 2023 amounted to $ 51.5 million. In the medium- and long run, it could affect the shift of the real GDP development trajectory by 0.1%.
Ukrainian exports in key sectors are expected: metallurgy, food industry, in particular, flour milling production and oil production.
