The chain of branded clothing stores Domino is quite well-known in Ukraine. Many wealthy people spend their tens of thousands of hryvnias there on another blouse or pants. Investigative journalists discovered a Russian case that may be connected to the Ukrainian network, as well as the company of Anton Shukhnin, a Donetsk resident who founded Domino, in Kazakhstan.

We wrote about the fact that in December 2014, Anton Shukhnin registered the company “Domino Group” LLC in Crimea, occupied by the Russians, with a charter capital of 10.5 million Russian rubles or 193.5 thousand dollars. (actually, and after the de facto occupation of a part of Shukhnin’s native Donetsk region). The main type of activity was construction work, but additional activities included the sale of clothes, shoes and leather goods. And there it was said that the company is owned by “foreign citizens” – that is, Ukrainians.

What this structure did in Crimea and why it was registered is absolutely unknown. But in 2018, they decided to liquidate it. The liquidator was Georgy Ustinov, the co-founder of the company “Domino UA” LLC registered in Dnipro.

Journalists discovered a Domino Eight store in Russian-occupied Yalta, which is still operating there. And somehow he imports sanctioned goods – branded clothes from abroad. At least until 2021, the same was in Kyiv. Domino Gold Rush and Domino Eight (after rebranding) have been operating in Yalta since 2014.

The Yalta store still has a Facebook page. It shows the group’s Ukrainian website: domino-group.com.ua. This site no longer works, but was official for the Ukrainian Domino Group, which until 2014 had stores in Donetsk and Dnipro, and later turned into the Anton Shukhnin network in Kyiv and Odessa.

Of course, the question arises: what is Anton Shukhnin and his Domino Group doing here? In 2020, a resident of Donetsk, Olena Humenyuk, registered the trademarks Domino and Domino Eight in the Ukrainian register. Lawyers from the Kyiv company “Kartushyn Partners” helped her arrange it. She registered the Domino Group brand twice in 2020 and 2018. And in 2017, Anton Shukhnin together with Olena Gumenyuk also registered the Domino Group brand, together they registered it in 2011 (with the same image as in the store in Yalta – Domino Group since 1995), and even earlier – in 2003.

Anton Shukhnin has already registered Domino Mandarin (the store in Kyiv is located in the Mandarin Plaza shopping center on the side of Velika Vasylkivska). And he did it with the help of lawyers from “Kartushyn Partners” in 2021.

In addition, Olena Humenyuk is a co-founder of the Ukrainian-Czech enterprise “Eurotrade” (YEDRPOU 24463495) together with Serhiy Shukhnin – the father of a well-known entrepreneur and the Czech company “AS DIMEKS GT”. Humenyuk and Shukhnin Sr. are also co-founders of Azimut LLC.

So probably Domino and Domino Eight of the Domino Group (both) are related. Here is a video from Russian-occupied Yalta about a month ago, in which a grandfather dances against the background of one of the stores of the Russian chain.

However, this business in Crimea is not registered to either Anton Shukhnin or Elena Humeniuk. Which of the Russian businessmen is related to him and how he is related to former Ukrainian high-ranking officials – we will tell later.

By the way, Shukhnin’s former partner in the Crimean firm “Domino Group” and Ukrainian firms Oleksandr Shavkun, a Donetsk resident, founded another firm in Crimea near Simferopol in August 2015 – LLC “Krym Bythym” already as a citizen of the Russian Federation – it operates even now and continues to pay taxes to the occupiers. Last year, she earned 8.5 million rubles. In 2015-2017, together with Anton Shukhnin, he was the owner of “Alessandra Chamoni” LLC in Kyiv.

In June 2022, Anton Shukhnin registered the company in Kazakhstan and named it Domino Butyk LLP (VIN 220640020487). She has been working since then. The Ukrainian is also registered as a director. The company has 1 boutique in the city of Almaty and is engaged in the delivery of luxury clothing throughout Kazakhstan. It is from this neutral state that Russians can buy and resell these clothes. We do not claim that this is what is done in this case, but a similar practice exists with other trade enterprises – after all, Kazakhstan is one of the main centers of re-export of goods banned in the Russian Federation, through which Russians receive them.

Journalists also paid attention to the Russian online clothing store Domino Principle. In some ways, it visually resembles the Ukrainian Domino sites (although this may just be a coincidence). If the official website of this brand is to be believed, then the store is run by IP (individual entrepreneur) Kristina Oleksandrivna Butylchenko from the Krasnodar region of Russia (the city of Garyachy Klyuch). But she registered the IP in 2022, and the store has been in existence since 2017. Before that, Butylchenko, who was unknown to no one from a small town, was a photographer, and then she took over and created a clothing store, and it is also claimed that it is sewn in the Russian Federation. But here it is difficult to find any connection with Ukrainians.

Earlier we wrote that the businessman from Donetsk, Anton Shukhnin, who is now registered in Odesa, is also suing the Italian brand Stefano Ricci, because he registered such a trademark in Ukraine. And also that its Domino’s stores can avoid paying taxes by selling goods in Tether (USDT) cryptocurrency.
