On Jan. 29, a deal between Republicans and Democrats was announced that would extend funding for the bulk of federal agencies through September, while the Department of Homeland Security would be funded for just two weeks at current levels to continue negotiations.

On January 30, the Senate adopted the relevant draft law and forwarded it to the House of Representatives. Speaker Mike Johnson is expected to bring it up for a fast-track vote, which requires at least two-thirds of members of Congress to vote for the document.

Voting is scheduled for the evening of February 2.
