The FBI revealed a group of criminals who planned to kidnap a jeweler from Miami in order to get about $2 million in cryptocurrency from the victim.
According to court documents, initially the information came from an anonymous source. According to him, the intruders intended to attack one of the employees of the Seybold Building, which historically housed many jewelry stores.
The leader of the group, named Jack, and his accomplices, whom he called “thugs”, learned that the potential victim owned a significant amount of cryptocurrencies and planned to exchange them for cash on January 13. The attackers planned to kidnap the jeweler and take the assets.
The leader allegedly warned the team not to harm the victim, except for one “good kick” on the head. At the same time, the kidnappers were going to take with them firearms, including assault rifles and MAC-10 submachine guns.
Law enforcement officers detained four members of the group directly on the day of the planned crime. Evan Puckett, Trevon Anthony Neal, Zachary Briggs and Aaron Hammond are charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping and attempted kidnapping.
The accused are being held in custody without bail. The trial will take place in Miami on January 21.
It will be recalled that in December 2024, an Australian woman kidnapped a member of the royal family of Saudi Arabia in order to receive $40,000 in bitcoins as a ransom.
