August 21 Transcarpathian District Administrative Court made a decision that became decisive for the future large -scale energy project in the region. Themis refused to satisfy the claim of the NGO “Ecology – Right – Man” (EPL) to cancel the detailed plan of the territory for the construction of a wind power plant in the Runa valley – the company’s project “Wind Parks of Ukraine”which is engaged in the development, erection and maintenance of the WES. Thus, the legitimacy of the Turier-Remethivska village council was confirmed and the green light was given an important investment initiative.
Almost a year in courts The trial around the construction of a wind power plant in Transcarpathia lasted about a year. Due to the claim of the EPL, the Ministry of Environmental and Natural Resources of Ukraine suspended the consideration of the environmental impact assessment procedure (ATS), which in fact blocked the construction of the object of critical energy infrastructure. Lawyers of the NGO claimed that the village council approved a detailed plan with violations. However, after a careful study of the arguments of the parties, the court found no reason to satisfy the claim.
At the same time, the final meeting became landmark not only legally but also social. Representatives of the Turier-Remetiv community, youth, activists and public organizations came to the court to support the decision on construction. Their presence testified to the desire of the locals to develop the territory and attract investments.
It is worth noting that The construction of wind power plants will have a positive both energy and economic effect. The project involves the construction of a wind farm with a capacity of 156 MW in the Rune valley. This will allow more than 200,000 households to be provided annually. Each community independently chooses and predicts its path of socio-economic development, budget filling, improving people’s well-being, and therefore reliable investors are potential partners and sources of funding for joint projects that contribute to the sustainable development of the community, ”she added.
The Wind Parks of Ukraine, which implements the project, also positively appreciated the decision. CEO Vladislav Yeremenko He emphasized that the trial showed the importance of dialogue between business and the public.
“We respect the court decision with respect, which has carefully considered all the arguments of the parties, and are grateful to all participants in the process. We appreciate everyone – both those who supported the project and those who gave the comments that help business take into account the economic and environmental aspects. We will apply this experience both today and in future projects so everyone can step forward, ”the manager said.
In addition, Eremenko called for further dialogue, “we remain open to cooperation with all the stakeholders,” adding: “Together we can find a balanced solution that will combine the development of critical energy infrastructure in compliance with environmental legislation and economic and environmental responsibility.
The decision of the Transcarpathian District Administrative Court confirmed the legitimacy of the construction of a wind power plant in the Rune valley and gave the start of the project. It was a victory for the community that defended the right to develop and attract investments.
