Tether has announced that from September 1, 2025 will stop redemption of USDT and Eurt tokens and freeze their residues on five blockchains: Omni, Bitcoin Cash Slp, Kusama, EOS and Algorand.
The solution has become part of a strategic view of the company’s focus infrastructure to active and prospective networks.
The company explained that these blockchains have played an important role in the early stages, but over the last two years the volume of USDT and Eurt circulation has decreased significantly. Tether has audited user activity and received feedback from infrastructure partners before making the final decision.
According to CEO Tether Paolo Adolyo, the rejection of less active networks will allow you to focus resources on blockchains with higher scale and interest from the developers and the community – key factors for the further development of assets.
The company shifts priority in support of L2-Wicks (including Lightning Network) and other new generation blockchains with better interaction, speed and dynamic development of the Defi environment.
Users who store USDT and Eurt on Omni, SLP, Kusama, EOS or Algorand are recommended to redeem or translate tokens to a supported network as soon as possible.
