Telegram responded to investigating FSB ties. The messenger stated that all servers belong to them and serve their employees. This was reported by the Russian BBC Service with reference to the company’s response.
The statement also said that Telegram as a global company “has contracts with dozens of different service providers around the world”, but none of them “has access to Telegram data or confidential infrastructure.” The messenger “has never revealed private messages to third parties and has never been broken.”
Earlier, on June 10, the edition of “Important Stories” wrote that those who serve the secret complexes of Russian special services used for monitoring citizens are responsible for the messenger infrastructure. This allows you to access correspondence.
Most of the IP address through which the messages take place belong to Global Network Management Inc. Its owner is a native of Togliatti Vladimir Vedeniev. According to the court documents of 2018, Vedaneev played the role of the Telegram Corp.
Telegram began to use GNM in 2020. Before that, the same IP addresses belonged to Globalnet St. Petersburg.
Vedaneev was a Globalnet beneficiary until 2024, now he is controlled by his relatives and Roman Venediktov. Venediktov, having served for about ten years in space troops, worked with relatives of Pavel Durov in 2012-2013.
Globalnet clients are the main research computing center of the Presidential Office of Russia. It is a closed analytical center that works on the FSB, FSO, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense.
Journalists noted that in recent years there has been a lot of evidence that Russian special services have received data on users of a telegram in Russia and in the occupied territories of Ukraine without physical access to their devices and without hacking.
