President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a bill No. 12414, which in fact limits the work of independent anti -corruption bodies of NABU and SAP. The relevant information appeared on the website of the Verkhovna Rada on July 22.
In this case, the information on the signing of the law disappeared from the site of the council. But now it is stated that President Zelensky has signed the document. In parallel on the evening of July 22, the publication on the law appeared in the newspaper of the Verkhovna Rada “Voice of Ukraine”. This means that he came into force on Wednesday, July 23.

Zelensky signed the law on the background of protests that took place in the evening of July 22 in Kiev, Dnipro, Odessa, Lviv and other cities in the evening. People demanded from the President to veto law # 12414.
According to the People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the deputies who opposed the law will try to submit a submission to the Constitutional Court to challenge it. To do this, it is necessary to collect signatures of 45 parliamentarians. Zheleznyak stressed that during the hearing in the Council of Bill No. 12414 many articles of the regulation were violated.
- On July 22, the Verkhovna Rada supported the Law No. 12414. He was mainly supported by the people’s deputies from the “servant of the people”, “POZH” and “Motherland”. Among other things, it allows the Prosecutor General to take cases to NABU and entrust the investigation to other bodies, as well as to close cases on suspicion of top official. Human rights activists called not to support this document because it believed that it was a threat to NABU independence.
- On July 22, NABU and SAP stated that the Verkhovna Rada was preparing to “liquidate” them.
