A member of the directors of the Ukrainian Association of Potato Manufacturers, Chairman of FG Adelaide Sergey Rybalko noted that there are no reasons for raising potato prices.
“There are no reasons for raising potato prices, from the word at all. The harvest is formed, the potato is harvested. If there are no cataclysms, for example, rains are 3 weeks or frost up to 5-10 degrees. That is, if there is no such thing, then no precursor to make the prices for potatoes, objectively, I do not see, ”the expert said.
According to him, the crop is about the level of last year, a little better, somewhere by 10-15% better, but more planted, increased area of planning.
“Well, a very good harvest in Europe, and this harvest in Europe is very pressing on the Ukrainian market. That is, there are many budgetary workpieces now, including those who work for the army, make purchases of Polish potatoes. Therefore, there will be no such deficiency as last year, ”Sergei Rybalko emphasized.
According to representatives of the Ukrainian Association of Potatoes, some agricultural enterprises have doubled potato growing this year. This situation can create an excessive supply of goods on the market and cause price falls compared to past periods.
According to the informant, potato prices in Ukraine in the fall of 2025 will remain higher than consumers expected. According to Taras Bashtannik, the President of the Ukrainian Fruit and Embled Association, “there will be no potatoes of 5 hryvnias – it will be 10.” The reason is the reduction of landing areas, the increase in logistics and energy costs, as well as unstable weather in key regions. Despite the expectation for the cheaper of the “borsch set”, it is potatoes that demonstrates stability in price. Experts predict that by the end of September the price will stabilize within 9-11 UAH/kg, depending on quality and region. At the same time, imported potatoes may appear on the market in October, but it will not reduce the total price level.
