Peredova is capable of initiating diplomacy, but Russia is not interested in this, – Zelenskyi

The Ukrainian state is nearing the end of preparations for a number of significant meetings with European partners that will take place this week. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in his evening address on October 21, stressing that one of the main results will be the conclusion of a new security agreement.

– The agreement, which we will actually implement as a component of security guarantees for our country, for all our citizens for the long term. Now it is too early to disclose the details – everything will happen within a week, – noted the president.

Zelensky emphasized that this will be a significant and in many respects exceptional document aimed at strengthening our defense capabilities. Its implementation will become an element of the system of long-term security guarantees for the state and its citizens.

The President emphasized that Ukraine and its allies have an agreed vision of future diplomatic actions.

– We express our gratitude to each partner for their support and steadfast position. Ukraine has clearly emphasized its readiness to end the war through political and diplomatic means. We had a conversation with US President Donald Trump and we agreed that the dialogue should take place taking into account the current front line. This is exactly the message Trump has publicly conveyed to his team. The front line can be the starting point of diplomacy. At the same time, Russia is once again doing everything to avoid diplomacy. And as soon as the long-range issue for us – for Ukraine – became a little more tangible, almost instantly Russia became less interested in diplomacy. This indicates that it is this question – the question of long range – that provides perhaps the indispensable key to peace. The greater the Ukrainian range, the greater the Russian propensity to end the war. Now weeks have confirmed it again, the guarantor said.

• On October 16, Trump announced an upcoming meeting with Putin in Budapest, but on October 21, it became known that the meeting between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, which was supposed to take place on the eve of the Trump-Putin talks, was postponed to another date.
