According to journalists, the CBP is in force at the request of the Federal Commission on Communications (FCC), and claims to ASIC makers are caused by the use of SI-chips of the Chinese company Sophgo, which came under trade restrictions.
However, Vera believes that the FCC decision is based on a mistake about the nature of cryptocurrency equipment.
“We believe that CBP and/or FCC has mistakenly classified bitcoin mainers as radio frequency devices, despite the clear evidence of the opposite,” the expert said.
According to him, he saw the corresponding definition of installations in letters from CBP.
“Radio frequency equipment – devices designed for transmission, acceptance or manipulation of radio waves. ASIC process electrical signals, but do not generate or transmit radio waves intentionally, ”Vera emphasized.
