In Lviv, the natural market was banned from selling books and records in Russian, as well as Soviet symbols. This was reported by the Lviv City Council. It is about the natural market on the square. Museum (13 Podvalnaya St.) near the monument to Ivan Fedorovich. There will be a specialized branch fair. This decision was made on March 4 at a meeting of the executive committee.
-We made a decision on a categorical ban on selling anything in Russian: selling books of Russian authors, the sale of books in Russian, in addition to technical, translated into Ukrainian, the sale of any symbolism of “Soviet”: badges, emblems, pennants, anything that may contain unacceptable symbolism in Ukraine,-said the director of the Department of Economic Development Inna Svistun.
Also provided for the installation of CCTV cameras and informing the phone numbers, which can be reported to violation of requirements. In addition, the Galician district administration, together with the municipal guard, will carry out inspection of the fair. In the first period, they will be done more often so that everyone clearly understands the rules of sale and adhere to them carefully.
Only printed products and plates were allowed to sell at the fair. And also here will be able to conduct cultural and educational events-exhibitions, lectures, reading.
– This is a very famous location in Lviv and it has always had a tradition. But everyone was outraged that now during a full -scale invasion and 11 years of war, they sold a Russian -speaking product that is an element of Russian propaganda. We understand that all Russian carries only death and terrible things, so there can be no such product there, – said the first deputy mayor Andriy Moskalenko.
Representative of the NGO “Decommunization of Lviv Region” Anna Gerich said that there were multiple appeals of military and veterans, which is first annoyed and “triggered” by the theme of badges, Russian -language literature and plates, which are near the monument to Fedorovich.
– Unfortunately, there were several public conflicts with our military. I would not like it to be repeated. I am sure that we will be able to settle it without destroying the binist market. We tried not to regulate nothing so that it would continue to work and there was such a historic good location in the city center, but without Russian -language literature and everything that is forbidden by current laws, she said.
In addition to this Department of Architecture and Spatial Development, they were instructed to develop a project of public space and trade rows in this place. In order for a binistic fair to be not only a place for buying books, but also the center of enlightenment, communication and popularization of Ukrainian literature.
