The first reports of possible abuses were received in 2015. Contracts of parliamentary assistants concluded between 2004 and 2016 were found in the system of fictitious employment in the “National Union”. According to prosecutors, the assistants actually worked only for a party outside the parliament.
“Many of them could not describe their day-to-day work, and some had never met their alleged MEP boss and never crossed the threshold of the parliament building,” the indictment states.
The Guardian adds that a security guard, a secretary, Le Pen’s chief of staff and a graphic designer were hired under false pretenses.
Due to such misuse of public funds, violators face a fine of 1 million euros, 10 years in prison and a 10-year ban on public office. The publication emphasized that this could be fatal for Marine Le Pen, who hopes to become the president of France in 2027.

We are obliged to express our respect and support to the Ukrainian people who were attacked,” she emphasized under during his speech in the French Parliament.
