The Ukrainian defender was captured more than three years ago – at the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation in 2022. At the same time, his daughter’s mother took her to Russia. Subsequently, the woman with the child returned to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. All this time, the child lived in unbearable conditions, said the Ombudsman, but fortunately, now the girl is safe.
On the first day of the great exchange of captives from captivity, the girl’s father returned. The man managed to hear the voices of relatives – mother and daughter for the first time in a long time.
- On May 24, another 307 Ukrainian servicemen returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity. This is the second stage in the framework of exchange in the format “1000 per 1000”. The Coordination Headquarters noted that 27 Mariupol defenders have returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity today.
- On May 23, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the exchange of prisoners is still the only result of negotiations with the Russian Federation.
