Yuriy Galushkin, the former commander of the operational-tactical group “Kharkiv”, who was detained in the case of the failure of the defense in the Kharkiv region, made a statement. The general expressed his readiness to go to the front as a private soldier. This was announced by his lawyer Mykhailo Velichko on Facebook.
– Regardless of how and when the investigation and trial will end, I declare: I am honored and ready, even in the rank of brigadier general, but in the position of an ordinary ordinary soldier to fight for Ukraine. If, despite my health condition, I can destroy one more occupier, it will bring more benefit to the state than a trial and arrest. This will allow me to preserve my honor, – said Galushkin.
According to him, there are fierce battles on the front line, there are losses among people and there are lost territories. The general believes that the problem lies not in the commanders of the Armed Forces, but in the number of Russian soldiers that the occupiers throw onto the battlefield.
– Commanders of all levels, like me at one time, do everything possible to win. However, ongoing litigation may affect their determination and actions. We have no right to undermine the trust of our military, because it can cost us dearly, he said.
Galushkin also confirmed that the security forces handed him a new suspicion. The ex-commander of the “Kharkiv” OTU called it “arbitrary” and assured that he is not trying to hide from justice.
Yuriy Galushkin was first detained by the SBI on January 20. According to the investigation, the strategic initiative was lost due to miscalculations by the commander of the “Kharkiv” air defense system, which allowed the occupiers to approach Ukrainian positions at a distance of up to 10 km. As a result, the enemy got the opportunity to shell Kharkiv with artillery. Then, on the first day of the Russian offensive, up to a hundred of our defenders died.
On January 21, the court sent the suspect to custody, but Galushkin was released on bail in the amount of 5 million hryvnias. On the same day, the SBI re-detained the general, referring to new facts discovered in the case. The security forces claim that during the defense in the Lypetsk community of the Kharkiv district, Galushkin incorrectly assessed the potential of the enemy and the circumstances in the area of his responsibility, which led to the voluntary withdrawal from the battlefield of the soldiers of the 125th Armored Brigade of the TrO.
- On January 23, the soldier Serhiy Hnezdilov, who publicly joined the SZCH, was released from criminal liability.
