Major altcoins also attract institutional investors. At the end of 2025 analysts CoinShares summed up capital flows in cryptocurrency investment funds during the year. And they noticed an interesting trend. While Bitcoin (BTC) continued to attract most of the capital , Ethereum (ETH), XRP and Solana (SOL) demonstrated the strongest growth .

Key points of this article:

  • Cryptocurrency mutual funds will see inflows of over $47 billion in 2025, despite to a sluggish market at the end of the year.
  • Bitcoin attracted most of the capital, but Ethereum, XRP and Solana showed extraordinary gains, including impressive gains of +138%, +500% and +1000% respectively.

Over $47 billion in net inflows into BTC ETFs and other crypto funds by 2025 On Monday, January 5, 2026, analysts CoinShares published a report in which they finalized data for the year 2025 regarding inflow of funds to investment funds, dedicated to digital assets.

The first observation is that, despite a rather lackluster end to the year for cryptocurrency markets, institutional investors and other enthusiasts of crypto-financial products continued to actively invest in this sector. Almost as much as in 2024, the year when Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs are scheduled to list.

Overall, in 2025, investment products in digital cryptoassets suffered a net positive inflow of $47.2 billion (after deduction of outflow). That’s just shy of the record set in 2024, with net inflows of $48.7 billion. It was the low performance in the last quarter of 2025 that prevented this record from being broken.

Bitcoin still attracts most capital, but altcoins are growing faster. CoinShares analysts also noted that although bitcoin remains the undisputed leader in the sector in terms of gross investment, namely altcoins suffered the greatest growth .

Thus, with general net inflow of almost 27 billion dollars, attracted by ETFs and various Bitcoin funds, the leading cryptocurrency remains the one that attracts the most capital. However, this indicator decreased by 35% compared to the previous year, with a projected net inflow of $41.7 billion by 2024.

Especially considering that, for their part, the main ones altcoins showed a clear increase in attractiveness. ETFs and financial products based Ethereum, thus fixed growth on +138% with a total net inflow +12.7 billion dollars in 2025 (compared to +5.3 billion dollars in 2024).

The same applies to funds based on XRP and SOL from Ripple, capital inflows to which are sharp increased by +500% and +1000% in accordance! This means that XRP and SOL have been invested in various funds and recent ETFs by 2025 +3.7 billion and +3.6 billion dollars .

While absolute numbers still favor Bitcoin, it is clear that altcoins are developing rapidly . Capital inflows into Ethereum ETFs will almost reach half of those of Bitcoin by 2025. As for XRP and Solana ETF launches in the second half of the year, they are simply exceptional, given the gloom prevailing in the cryptocurrency market. One thing is for sure, institutional investors are now more than ever interested in investing in digital assets, and now it is not just the king of cryptocurrencies.
