Ethereum developers discussed splitting Pectra into two stages - INFBusiness

At the All Core Developers meeting, Ethereum developers proposed splitting the big Pectra update into two parts. The first phase is planned to be activated in early 2025.

The idea is being promoted to accelerate the implementation of the first upgrade. Maybe it will happen by February next year.

“The split fork only makes sense if we’re talking about a Q1 update,” said one of the developers, Denno Ferrin.

The final decision is planned to be made at the next meeting of All Core Developers.

“I think a split where we ship the first part of the update in, say, June would be a failure,” Ethereum Foundation researcher Ansgar Dietrichs commented.

Splitting the update into two smaller parts will be safer, the developers said. This step involves integrating smaller changes at each stage.

We will remind you that in May the network team decided to integrate Pectra. The update is designed to make the system more flexible, efficient and user-friendly.
