Captive Chinese at a press conference in Kiev told how they got to the war

There was a press conference with prisoners of war, who fought on the side of the Russian Federation. This was reported by “Public”. The event organized the SBU in Ukrinform. According to the captives of the Chinese, they were recruited by intermediaries through the social network, promising civilians.

– All documents were Russian, communication was with gestures, showed signs what we needed to do. I got a map for which I got 200 thousand rubles, but I couldn’t use this card. Periodically, the Russians took a map to spend money on fuel, on the spruce, – said one of them Zhang Renbo.

Both captives stated that they did not kill the Ukrainian military because they were not on the front line for a long time. And the first Ukrainian military was seen when they were captured.

Prisoners of war said that Russia recruits foreigners to the army through intermediaries. They are offered a job not related to the service. Yes, one of them wanted to get a job related to medical rehabilitation, and as a result became the military.

– At first I refused to participate in the fighting, but I was later sent to the front, – Zhang Renbo said.

The second prisoner, Van Guangzun, stated that he had hidden information on a contract with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, did not provide details about contract duties and remuneration. He was also initially offered another job, a builder.

Russia is actively spreading propaganda in Chinese media and social networks, prisoners of war reported. According to them, China promotes “friendly attitude to Russia”.

-Any information is about Russia’s victories. In Chinese social networks you can see people in shape, advertising. In China, being prestigious to be in the army, so someone may want to go into the army in another country, – said one of the prisoners of war.

Van Guangzun reported that on February 5 he arrived in Russia, to Moscow. On February 25, he was already a contractor. After that, he was transported to Rostov, and on April 1 was sent to the front line in Donetsk region.

Zhang Renbo arrived in Russia on December 24, December 28 arrived in Rostov as a contractor. In early February he was in a temporarily occupied Donetsk. He was on different lines of the front, and on April 5 he was captured in the Donetsk direction.

Both captives expressed their desire to return to China as part of the exchange. Van Guangjun reported that his family did not know about captivity. He also said that Russian instructors and commanders did not prepare them prisoners.

Zhang Renbo reported that China was “waiting for punishment” for participating in hostilities in another country, and they still seek to return home.

• On April 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that in the Donetsk region the Armed Forces were captured by two China citizens who fought against Ukraine in the Russian army.
• On April 9, Zelensky said at a meeting with journalists that at least 155 China citizens were fighting in the Russian army, whose information is known to Ukrainian special services.
