Cabbage prices in Ukraine: expert expert forecast between despair and hope

In the first days of September, Ukraine recorded the cost of white cabbage, according to EastFruit experts. The market is now In the transition phase of the off -season: the implementation of medium varieties has almost stopped, and late varieties only began to come from individual manufacturers. The limited availability of the product on the background of stable demand contributes to the increase in price.

As of September 3, prices from manufacturers in key regions ranged from 7-16 UAH/kg ($ 0.17-0.39/kg), taking into account the quality and size of parties. This is 27% higher compared to the end of the last week.

Farmers explain the sharp rise in price of a number of reasons. The main factor is the sharp decline in the supply due to the completion of the sales of the middle varieties and the limited start of the collection of later. At the same time, high demand continues to press on the price segment.

Currently, the cost of white cabbage in Ukraine is 36% lower than last year during the same period. Market participants do not exclude additional rising prices at the beginning of next week, but in 7 days expect a sharp decline due to the mass exit of late varieties to the market.

According to the informant, in September in Ukraine the normal season of sugar industry began. This year, 27 sugar mills will be operated-two less than in 2024. The projected production is approximately 1.5 million tons of sugar, which is 300 thousand tons less than last season. The reduction of the supply has already led to the expectations of increased sugar prices by 10-15% by the end of the month.
