The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine Kirill Budanov stated that there are now several probable scenarios of end of the war, as well as development after it. However, the scenario of Ukraine’s return to Russia is the most urgent. The head of GUR said this in an interview with Mosaychuk+.
– As of today, this is impossible. Because even if someone wanted to turn now, say, towards Russia, it just won’t succeed. And the events we see in our society, they confirm it again, – he said in an interview. – But the question is what will happen. If we are not changing and seriously not start to perceive what is, can be different things and far from the most pleasant.
Budanov spent an allegory with his own admiration – collecting postal stamps. He pointed out that many states whose stamps are stored in his collection have already disappeared from the political map of the world.
– I can show the countries of 20 in the brands that I am not somewhere far in Africa. Not so far from us existed and there are no more, even among European countries. Somewhere, apparently, seven countries have ceased to exist in this period of time. Therefore, we need to think seriously about what we do and where we have to move, – he emphasized.
Budanov noted that even in Europe, at least seven countries have disappeared over the last decades and added that Ukraine should think where it is moving. “We have to clearly identify for ourselves, if we do not, we will be brought to us,” said the head of the GUR.
Commenting on the recent JP Morgan study on probable scenarios for Ukraine, Budanov noted that these are only analytical models, not forecasts. Budanov urged not to focus only on analysts, but to think what exactly wants Ukrainian society. According to him, scripts such as Belarusian or Georgian are unlikely to satisfy Ukrainians. At the same time, “Israelization” or South Korean model looks more attractive, although they remain debatable.
Budanov also said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has recently been shaky. However, he said, “the health of the Russian dictator is worse than his system of government.” In this case, the dictator’s departure will not change the situation in Russia, he says.
– Their system is quite strong … Putin’s health is worse than his system, but with the departure of the leader of the Russian state will not change there. They built the system so that the next successor will be in that paradigm. And this is at least, ”he said.
Budanov noted that Moscow was prepared for the possible change of the Kremlin’s head, despite the fact that candidates may change. And the successor who will come to power will change nothing. Everything will move as it was, Budanov said. As an example, the head of the GUR named the totalitarian regime in North Korea, which has been lasting since the 1950s. In Pyongyan, they are systematically approaching the preparation of successors. In Russia, a similar situation is that a whole class of people who were born for Putin’s President has grown there, living for President Putin, and many have already died with him. “And they do not imagine another life. Therefore, the system there, unfortunately, has become enough for us,” he added.
- On July 11, Budanov stated that he wanted to stay in office until the end of the war with Russia.
- On July 11, Budanov warned that the Russians will increase their activity in Dnipropetrovsk. The invaders, according to him, have a political purpose to declare that they have entered the Dnipropetrovsk region. Therefore, they are instructed to create a buffer zone up to 10 kilometers there.
