Bitcoin reigns supreme. The year 2025 was marked historical introduction of Bitcoin ETFs which attracted over $12 billion directly from investors’ portfolios. These new crypto-financial products, indexed to BTC, have largely dominated the market related to crypto funds, but Ethereum has still managed to gain some ground in this sector. We take stock at the end of the year.

Ethereum plays a leading role in the market, second to Bitcoin Exchange investment funds (ETFs) have become in just a few years the preferred financial instrument for traditional investors to invest in their cryptocurrency portfolios. The Block came to this conclusion using data, provided by CF Benchmarks.
These graphs show dominant position bitcoin in this sector dominated by 85% to 90% during the past year.
However, it seems that Ethereum is determined to exist, and its market share grew from 10% at the beginning of 2025 to 15% in recent months.

Other cryptocurrencies are trying to occupy their own niche. It growth clearly happens at the expense of others cryptocurrency, present in this market, as their combined share fell from 5% at the beginning of the year before less than 2% in recent months.
However, according to a recent report published by Bitwise Asset Management, Ripple (XRP) and Solana (SOL) token-related funds are off to a pretty good start. These ETFs together constituted 4% from the total inflow recorded for the last 12 months .
Bitcoin ETFs continue to dominate the crypto market, even as the Ethereum network becomes a serious competitor with increasing market share. This dynamic may well continue, especially with the future appearance of an ETH ETF with integrated staking.
