The company noted that despite the achievement of modern robots – from playing chess to cleaning wool from carpets – they are not able to “feel” the world around. When encountered with objects, most simply stop without even realizing it.

“Vulcan is a fundamental jump in the development of robotics. He not only sees the world, but feels it that opens new opportunities, still inaccessible to Amazon’s work, ”said Aaron Parnes, director of applied sciences.

The robot is intended for collecting and laying goods in warehouses. Unlike previous models, such as Sparrow, Cardinal or Robin, which use computer vision and suckers – Vulcan can delicately manipulate objects, even in tight textile containers where only humans have previously worked.

Amazon explained that Vulcan design is based on the achievements in the field of physical AI, engineering and robotics. Its manipulator resembles a ruler attached to a hair align and equipped with feedback sensors that report pressure or grip density. This can regulate the robot and avoid damage to the goods.

Vulcan is the first robot of a company to gain skills close to human in fine motor skills. He studies at physical data, in particular through sensory reverse information about touch and power.

The corporation emphasizes that Vulcan does not replace employees, but complements their work, making it safer and more efficient.

Recall that in 2025, the work-humanoid of Atlas from Boston Dynamics should start working at the Hyundai plant in the United States.
