In a conversation with Dmytro Gordon, human rights defender Dmytro Lubinets points to the number of 11 million people, speaking of those who left Ukraine. Influencer and reporter Sergey Lyamets questions the information of the ombudsman and explains why such information was made now.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

The communication between Dmytro Lubenets and Gordon took place because it was necessary to convey why the electoral processes in Ukraine cannot take place right now. Blogger and reporter Serhii Lyamets notes this in his personal blog on the website of the “Censor” publication.

“I liked how Lubinets completely made up the number of 11 million Ukrainians who went abroad. Officially, he was given the number of 8.5 million, but the ombudsman said: well, we realize that there are all 11. Later, he added more arguments why the elections cannot be held. These are shelling, these are internally displaced persons, these are Ukrainians in the occupied lands and, in fact, foreigners. And the legislation forbids it (accompanying the manipulator of the legislation Fedor Venislavskyi),” emphasizes the analyst, who is convinced that everything said by the ombudsman is a distortion of the facts.

According to his words, first of all, there are significantly fewer Ukrainians abroad, because many are only registered, but permanently live in Ukraine.

“Secondly, many have left to wait out the harsh winter with shutdowns, but they will return with the return of spring. Thirdly, it is expensive to organize electoral processes abroad, but not too difficult,” emphasized Serhiy Lyamets in his personal blog.

The analyst believes that such rhetoric from the ombudsman today is “only to ensure personal safety and manage financial flows.”

“Ask yourself, who benefits from this rhetoric? Who benefits from believing that a third of Ukraine’s citizens have fled? Who benefits from pretending that no one wants to return, and that this state of affairs will continue for a very long time? Who benefits from pretending that the future is just a continuation of today’s state of affairs? In my opinion, this directly helps the Russians. Apparently, the Ukrainian ombudsman doesn’t know what is helping the Russians, but it actually turns out that way,” says Serhii Lyamets.

According to his reasoning, the personal motivation of Dmytro Lubenets is very simple: the “business” of the ombudsman is quite understandable.

“It is possible to visit the prison with an inspection, to achieve better conditions for the detention of prisoners, but it is possible not to visit. It is possible to intervene in the process of “busification”, and it is possible not to intervene. In some places, it is possible to carry out control, identify violations of human rights and create problems for institutions or businesses, etc. It seems that there are nuances, but the sphere of authority is very large,” noted Serhii Lyamets.

According to him, the position of the ombudsman is extremely important, because if the work is done with quality and conscientiousness, then the ombudsman for human rights is a real “problem for the government”.

“However, for some reason I did not get such an impression when I watched Lubenets’ speech. He teaches very well, everything is very bright and positive, he very carefully avoids uncomfortable topics. Based on this, he came to Mr. Gordon’s broadcast with a specific purpose. There are few options. Or it is to highlight the topic of elections, because they were given such a task. Or highlight the topic of the elections, because they were given such a task, + offer yourself for some better position,” writes blogger Serhiy Lyamets.

We will remind, in a recent conversation, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets named the number of migrants from Ukraine to Europe — 11 million people. Aksana Filipishyna, a worker in the field of human rights sees such unconfirmed data as a frank distortion of the facts.

Before that, Lubinets reported that Russia was preparing a number of provocations under the guise of “peaceful protests” in major cities of Ukraine.
