Widespread Internet outages were reported early Monday, knocking out popular services including Snapchat, Fortnite and Roblox, as Amazon Web Services said there was an issue they were working to fix.
Cloud computing company Amazon, which known as AWS and which supports high-bandwidth public Internet, issued a series of updates on Monday regarding the apparent problem.

The first message, posted at 3:11 a.m. ET, said the company was “investigating an increase in error rates” for the East Coast region, which it called the “US-EAST-1 region.”
Downdetector, a site that monitors Internet services, showed a spike in Internet outages around the same time.
Outages have been reported for Amazon and its Alexa assistant, as well as many other sites. According to Downdetector, Reddit, cameras from Ring, Venmo, Signal, Snapchat and others were unavailable to many.
After a series of technical updates, AWS said at about 5:22 a.m. ET that it had implemented “internal migrations” that had led to “early signs of recovery” from some AWS-powered services.

Minutes later, the company said it was seeing “significant” signs of recovery.
“Most requests should now succeed,” AWS said in an update. “We continue to work on the backlog of requests. We will continue to provide additional information.”
