President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about Ukrainian men of mobilization age who are abroad during the war. He emphasized: the more people return, the easier it will be for the army, especially for those who have been on the front lines for a long time without rotations. The head of state said this in an interview with Czech Radio.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi noted that he does not look at the situation only in terms of the numbers of those who left the country. For him, the most important thing is that millions of Ukrainians stayed at home and hold the country. “I don’t look at it as the millions of people who left. I look at it as a great test and that millions of people are left behind. And precisely because millions of people remained, Ukraine remained,” the president said.
Speaking about the needs of the army, Zelenskyi emphasized that the return of men of mobilization age could really help the military, who have been fighting for a long time without proper rest.
According to him, there is a lack of people in many directions, which is why fighters do not have the opportunity to regularly rotate. “I would really like to help those soldiers who are at the front, who, due to the fact that sometimes there is a lack of boys, do not have a rotation,” he noted.
The President separately emphasized the human dimension of this problem — fatigue, exhaustion and the need of the military to return to normal life, at least for a short time. “It would be very fair for them to have a vacation, for them to have the opportunity to see relatives, relatives, just to rest, just, you know, to return sometimes to the arms of their family. This is very important, it gives energy,” said Zelensky.
He added that men who went abroad during the war could contribute to the defense of the country and thus support those who have been holding the front for years. “I think guys like that who went could definitely help,” the president concluded.
