President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Europe and democratic partners in the world to provide political support for the creation of a special tribunal on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
The Head of State stated this during a speech in Lviv on May 9, addressing representatives of more than 40 states who gathered for a coalition meeting for the creation of a tribunal.
“If at least one war is unpunished – there will be new wars. This is exactly what happened: Putin began a full -scale invasion, because he avoided punishment for previous crimes. As a regular bandit who never answered the committed, ”Zelensky emphasized.
The President emphasized that the world has no right to repetition such a scenario, and therefore requires a real international instrument that would not only ensure justice but also prevent new wars – a special tribunal for a crime of aggression.
“And today, when more than 40 countries gathered in Lviv, I appeal to all of Europe and our democratic friends in the world – support this decision politically. It is key to ensuring the responsibility of the aggressor, ”Zelensky said.
Earlier, we wrote that Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal met with a high representative of the European Union (EU) Kaya Callas in Lviv. The negotiations raised the issues of sanctions against Russia and not only.
Recall that on Europe Day, May 9, to Lviv arrived Foreign Ministers and diplomats of European countries. In particular, the head of EU Callas Diplomacy and the New Foreign Minister of Germany Johann Vadeful came to Ukraine.
