According to the head of the Ukrainian state, the interlocutors “congratulated our peoples on Victory Day in Europe – victory over Nazism.”
Zelensky also said that the parties congratulated the Verkhovna Rada of the Economic Partnership Agreement. The President of Ukraine called it “a truly historical document that opens up many new opportunities for cooperation.”
In addition, Zelensky and Trump discussed “the need for further efforts for peace, including specific steps that can be taken.”
“President Trump asked the situation on the battlefield, and I briefly informed him,” the head of the Ukrainian state reported.
The Ukrainian president also said that the country is ready for a 30-day ceasefire “At least today”.
“This is something that can give a lot of chances for diplomacy. Ukraine is ready for a full ceasefire today, right from this moment – for 30 days of silence. Only for real. In order not to strike rockets, drones, and that there are no hundreds of storms at the front, ”the President of Ukraine said.
The head of state spoke about the expectation of consent from Russia for such a proposal.
“They have to prove their readiness to end the war. And this is not the first time – we offer it again. Thirty days that can become the beginning of peace. It is the ceasefire that prolonged and reliable, will be a real indicator of motion to peace. America can help with it. The world needs America just like 80 years ago, ”the head of state said.
During the discussion of “joint action”, Zelensky raised the topic of support of the US, which is “so needed, about pressure on Russia – pressure for the sake of peace”, and the parties also discussed “diplomatic work”.
According to the President of Ukraine, “a real and long ceasefire – at least 30 days” can give “many chances for diplomacy”.
“I also confirmed that Ukraine is ready for negotiations in any format. But for this, Russia should show the seriousness of its intentions to complete the war, starting with a complete and unconditional ceasefire, ”Zelensky reported.
According to him, Trump confirmed that “he wants to end this war, ready to help and support the need for ceasefire.”
Zelensky added that together with his American colleague they “agreed further contacts.”
Recall that US President Donald Trump has announced his conversation with Zelensky. He noted that the parties “had just concluded an agreement on rare earth elements.”
“It was fully ratified and approved by their legislative branches of power, and we appreciate it, and I will talk to the president a little later, a little later,” the American leader said.
