The so-called “Istanbul agreements”, and in fact, Russia’s ultimatum regarding the capitulation of Ukraine and surrender of its independence, put forward in 2022, do not exist in reality. These are only senile fantasies of the Russian dictator.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said this during a conversation with the mass media in Brussels.
“In general, I am surprised about his statement that he (Putin – ed.) is ready for something, but he constantly says that I am illegitimate… The ultimatum included, and they always talk about it, “demilitarization”, “denazification”. .. The main Nazi on the planet today – Putin – talks about the denazification of Ukrainians… Demilitarization so that the army in Ukraine does not exist, or something else, I don’t remember, … they talked about 40-50 thousand He simply offered Ukraine to surrender, freeze the conflict, change the direction of development – neither Europe nor NATO, but the direction – to the Russian Federation, so that they rule our state, deprive us of our independence. And this person says that these are some deals… Just an old dreamer. He lives in another world, in his aquarium,” Zelenskyi said.
He reminded that the so-called Istanbul agreements never existed. In 2022, in the first days of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, there was an ultimatum. Then, using different sources, different people, Russia detailed this ultimatum.
“Their “messengers” in different directions, using different sources, showed us the details of this ultimatum. These runners are not in Ukraine, they have already run to Russia or abroad. In any case, Ukraine did not agree to the Russian ultimatum. They tried to take the following steps: somewhere they softened the position regarding this ultimatum, these were meetings in Belarus and Turkey, and they called these meetings the “Istanbul Agreements”. “Ukraine did not sign anything, no agreements existed, it was a response to the Russian ultimatum,” Zelenskyy said.
We will remind that during this press conference, Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine is not considering renewing the agreement with Gazprom on the transit of Russian gas to Europe, and also made it clear that Kyiv will not agree to pump Russian gas under the guise of Azerbaijani gas.
He also said that for Ukraine, formats of ending the war with Russia, which will be reduced only to the “freezing” of hostilities, are unacceptable.
Also, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi emotionally reacted to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s “proposal” for a “technological duel” between the Russian Oreshnik missile and Western-style air defense systems in Ukraine. The head of state noted that these are the words of an inadequate person.
