Keith Kellogg, the special representative of the US president on Russian and Ukrainian issues, may visit Ukraine after Trump’s inauguration. President Zelenskyi’s Office called it a “positive signal”.
Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President’s Office, said this on the broadcast of the telethon. In his opinion, the postponement of the visit shows that Trump’s transition administration is studying the information provided by intelligence and “getting a deeper idea of what kind of war it is and what solutions can be implemented.”
“This suggests that the transitional Trump administration already has a deep understanding of the nature of this war, an understanding of Russia’s motives, an understanding that it is impossible to ask Russia for something and expect an adequate response. And that we really need to look for tools of significant influence on Russia,” said Podolyak.
Regarding the postponement of Kellogg’s visit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, said that the parties are currently working on defining “the time limits of the visit and filling it with maximum content.”
We previously wrote that Donald Trump’s future special representative for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, was supposed to visit Ukraine in early January, but postponed his familiarization trip to Kyiv and other European capitals.
