President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russia deliberately delaying the war, trying to disrupt peace talks and mislead the country that still hope to influence the Kremlin through diplomacy.
The head of state said this in his evening address.
“Russia is delaying the war and doing everything to deceive the countries that are still trying to influence Moscow with a word rather than pressure. Words with Moscow do not work. Even the so -called Memorandum they promised and has not been prepared for more than a week, no one has seen yet, ”Zelensky said.
The President stressed that the Russian document was not transferred to Ukraine or Turkey – a state that accepted the first round of negotiations. According to him, the Russians promised quite differently, including the United States and President Donald Trump.
“Another Russian deception. They all do to make the meetings empty. And this is another reason for sufficient sanctions – powerful pressure on Russia, ”Zelensky stressed.
The President also reported that he heard the report of the commander -in -chief Alexander Sirsky on the situation at the front and the results of long -range strikes in the Russian Federation.
“Thank you to our boys for the accuracy. And this is absolutely fair – it is in Russia that the war is that there is a desire to engage in diplomacy, ”he added.
After negotiations in Istanbul, Russia declared preparation of its own “memorandum” with a vision of ceasefire, which allegedly will become the basis for a peace treaty. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov on May 28 suggested to hold the second round of negotiations on June 2 – again in Istanbul, where Russia plans to present its document.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia is constantly rejecting the proposed areas for future negotiations through the policy of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
We also reported that the Ukrainian side is waiting for clear signals from Russia on the readiness for negotiations, as official Kiev arranges any of the already offered sites for the meeting.
